Twenty-eight-year-old Anthony Johnson appeared in bond court Wednesday, accused of raping a teenage girl inside a dorm room on the campus of Johnson and Wales University.
Police said Johnson, a seasonal part-time coaching assistant, attacked the 19-year-old while she was visiting a student at a residence hall. Johnson was not working at the time, and the university said he should not have been on campus.
According to the arrest report, on Sunday evening, Johnson entered a dorm room with the teenager and forced her onto the bed, where he proceeded to rape her. The teen said she told Johnson she was a virgin, and it was hurting but he did not stop.
Johnson was subsequently arrested Tuesday.
The university released a statement which read in part: “The alleged incident occurred while the victim was visiting a student residence hall on campus. We immediately contacted the North Miami Police Department who launched an investigation and subsequently arrested Mr. Anthony Johnson in connection with the alleged assault. Mr. Johnson is a seasonal part-time coaching assistant for the campus athletic department. He is not currently coaching and is not allowed on campus. The university is cooperating with the police and is awaiting further information from them.”
